| This group is dedicated to collecting and showcasing Vector Typography. This group is all fresh and new and pretty much still under construction Cheers ^pica-ae & `LineBirgitte What is Vector? Vector Art is created in vector-based programs (such as Illustrator, Corel Draw, Inkscape and Flash) using vector tools only. Its most valuable benefit is endless scalabilty, while keeping the file size small and the quality up. Vectors are based on paths and points and are easy to adjust and edit whenever you get back to your file. What is Typography? Typography is the art and technique of arranging type, designing a typeface or modifying letters. The arrangment of type involves choosing a typeface, setting a font size and line height, adjusting spaces between words (tracking) and letters (kerning) and many more things. Talking about Typefaces… A typeface or font is created as vector! This means, you can make it as big as you want and it will always look good. The fontsize basically is a scale factor. sooo... What is VecType? VecType is Digital Typography created using vector tools. Since every typeface/font is vector by default, every piece of Typography using a typeface/font is vector by default. Of course you can create typographic art from scratch with vector tools or trace a sketch of type that you created. However, there are ways and options to enhance the vector type design by raster elements. We will allow such deviations, but the Vector part of your art should clearly be the main focus. Simply putting some letters over a picture will not work |
